Terms and Conditions
Last updated: Draft β not yet published
These terms govern your use of The VIN Lookup. By using this site, you agree to them. The VIN Lookup is not a government agency, vehicle manufacturer, insurer, title authority, or original data owner. Information is obtained from available public and third-party sources and may be incomplete, delayed, or unavailable.
What The VIN Lookup provides
The VIN Lookup organizes available vehicle information from public and third-party data sources β including NHTSA's free vPIC decoder, NHTSA's recall data, and licensed commercial history providers β into a single, easy-to-read vehicle report emailed to the address you provide. VIN Beacon does not own, create, or independently verify the underlying source data, does not resell or license raw data to third parties, and does not offer API or developer access to that data. Report coverage varies by vehicle, jurisdiction, and connected data source. A missing record does not prove an event never occurred, and a report without flagged issues does not guarantee a vehicle is free of problems.
Payments
Each report is a single, one-time payment for one VIN, billed by Paddle, our payment processor. VIN Beacon never receives or stores your card details.
Acceptable use
- You will not use The VIN Lookup to attempt to identify a vehicle's current or past owner by name.
- You will not attempt to circumvent report access controls or resell a report you purchased.
- You will not use automated tools to scrape or bulk-extract report data.
Disclaimer
Reports are provided βas isβ based on available third-party and public data. Always obtain an independent, professional inspection before purchasing a used vehicle.
